Apply the Donor Segmentation System to your CRM
In this workshop, you'll use the segmentation parameters established in the first two classes and setup those parameters inside your donor database. We'll do this in two parts as you follow along in the workbook.
Part 1: Create fields for each segment
Step 1: Create custom, user-defined fields for Donor Level and Donor Status segments.
Step 2: Set up segments for Donor Type and Donor Attribute. Since most databases come with pre-set fields for these, this step usually means identifying those fields and making sure they correspond with the segments you want to track.
Step 3: Create custom, user-defined fields for Annual Donor Classification (which we'll talk about in greater detail in Module 3!) using Kindful CRM as demo database.
Part 2: Write and run queries/filters for each donor segment
This video demonstrates how to work through the next two steps in setting up your database for the donor segmentation system:
Step 4: Create filters (searches) for each donor level and status segment to “tell” your database what parameters you chose to define your segments (for the custom fields you created in step 1).
Step 5: Run each segment filter with a mass update (bulk grouping) to add a segment code for the corresponding donor level or donor status field (the custom fields you created). We'll introduce this process in this video and work through the mass updates in Module 3 Class 2.
